Winter Olympics: Day 13 roundup.
  Saturday 24 February, 2018
Winter Olympics: Day 13 roundup.

It was another day of high drama in Pyeongchang with golds for Germany, Hungary and China among others and an unprecedented "Miracle on Ice." Revisit all of the action here.

Day 13 in Pyeongchang will go down in the history books with a number of Olympic firsts, medal droughts ended and records broken.

Hungary managed to pull off all three feats. Their men’s 5000m short-track speed skating relay team romped home in an Olympic-record time to win the country’s first ever gold at the Winter Games and their first medal of any description since 1980.

Elsewhere on the track, China’s Wu set a new world record to take the 500m honors.

In the ice hockey, the USA women’s team snatched gold in dramatic style against arch-rivals Canada. In the first ever shootout in a women’s Olympic final, the US ended Canada’s dream of five straight golds to secure their first Olympic triumph since the inaugural women’s ice hockey event in 1998.

The German men’s Nordic combined team got their hands on a first gold medal since 1988 to complete an Olympic and world championship double.

But arguably the story of the day came from two 16-year-olds from New Zealand. The country had waited 26 years to add to their one and only Olympic medal when Zoi Sadowski-Synnott and Nico Porteous grabbed two for the Kiwis on the same day in snowboarding and freestyle skiing respectively.
