Bridging The Gap
Senator Kaine, Governor McAuliffe, Attorney General Herring, Congressmen Connolly, Beyer, and Gubernatorial candidates, welcome Gold Star father Khizr Khan as Fairfax Democrats' Keynote Speaker May 21.
  Tuesday 09 May, 2017
Senator Kaine, Governor McAuliffe, Attorney General Herring, Congressmen Connolly, Beyer, and Gubernatorial candidates, welcome Gold Star father Khizr Khan as Fairfax Democrats\' Keynote Speaker May 21.

The Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) will be holding its Jefferson-Obama Dinner at the Sheraton Tysons Hotel on the evening of May 21st with 2016 Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee, US Senator, and former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, who will introduce the keynote speaker, Gold Star father Khizr Khan.

Special guests include Governor Terry McAuliffe and First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe, Attorney General Mark Herring, and the next Governor of Virginia, either Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam or former Congressman Tom Perriello.  Also attending are Congressmen Gerry Connolly and Don Beyer, and other elected officials.

As this is the 225th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party, it is fitting that we celebrate the 225 years of ever-expanding freedom that the party has brought.

“This will be an electrifying evening with Mr. Khan,” says FCDC Chair Sue Langley. “I was honored to be on the floor of the Democratic National Convention when he held up his copy of the Constitution and offered to loan it to Mr. Trump. With what we have seen since the inauguration, it is clear that Trump should have taken him up on the offer.”

The event will feature a silent auction and a VIP reception. This is the local party’s key event to raise funds for this year’s crucial statewide and House of Delegates elections. “We have Democratic candidates running in both Republican-held House seats and the one open seat in Fairfax County. Our objective is to send Donald Trump a message by turning all those seats blue and turning out large numbers of voters in Fairfax County to win the statewide races,” Langley says.
