Pakistan have failed to perform in accordance with expectations, during the ongoing 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in England and Wales, which means that they have set an unwanted record in the mega event.
The century opening stand between KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, during Pakistan’s clash against India in Manchester, was the second time Pakistan conceded an opening partnership in excess of 100 runs, during the 2019 World Cup.
It must be noted that the Men in Green had conceded no 100 plus opening partnerships in 37 innings across six World Cups but they now have two against their name in as many matches.
The century partnership between David Warner and Steve Smith, in Pakistan’s previous match against Australia, was the first 100 plus opening partnership in a World Cup match against Pakistan since 147 by Robin Smith and Michael Atherton in Karachi in 1996.
Pakistan only have three points from four games during the ongoing 2019 World Cup and they will be desperate for a win against India to stay alive in the tournament.
