Pakistan beat Iran 9-7 in the ongoing 2017 World Polo Championship Zone E qualifier in Tehranís Kanoon Chogan, Qasr Firoozeh at the Army Polo Club on Wednesday.
The defeat means Iranís hopes of qualifying for the mega event are all but over, as they had already lost their first match against India.
On the other hand, Pakistan continued their winning run with an impressive performance, which followed their first match win against South Africa.
The winning side looked far more composed and agile in the field. Both Pakistan and Iran demonstrated excellent horsemanship throughout the first three rounds of the match.
However, it was Pakistanís excellent grit and control of the ball, particularly in the last round, where they scored three goals and secured a comfortable victory.
Desolate on defeat: Loss to Chitral at Shandur a bitter pill to swallow
The much-awaited Pakistan-India match, the last encounter of Zone E, will be played on July 7, where a victory will secure Pakistanís spot in the World Polo Championship 2017 in October in Sydney, Australia.
