Middle East Memons vow larger role to serve humanity

The World Memon Organisation Middle East chapter celebrated its Annual Day at a packed ceremony held in Dubai, announcing renewed pledge to serve humanity with their welfare projects. The World Memon Organisation (WMO) is an international umbrella organization of the Memon Muslim Community serving humanity through its seven chapters in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America.

Ahmed Shaikhani, Vice-President of WMO Middle East chapter, in a note of thanks said: “I am happy to welcome such a large gathering of Memon community to celebrate The Memon Day. The WMO Middle East chapter is well connected with all chapters around the world. We share our experiences to benefit one another in particular, and the society as a whole. I specially thank the sponsors of today’s programme. Without their generous support the gathering of this scale could not be happened.”

Shoaib Ismail Mangroria Secretary General of WMO briefed about the WMO ongoing projects. Hussain Lawai Vice President Pakistan Chapter gave comprehensive presentation about the performance of the Pakistan chapter and shared the progress of ongoing projects in education, rehabilitation and Memon Industrial Technical Institute (MITI) in Karachi. He also briefed about upcoming projects in Pakistan.

Maimona Darwesh gave short brief about the Middle East chapter’s ongoing projects and shared common community issues that are faced by the Memon Community. Rashida Anwer, Assistant Secretary General of the Middle East chapter shared the progress of ladies wing’s activities.

Khurram Hanif Kalia spoke about the new initiative by WMO ME - WMO Connect - to connect all members under a single umbrella, including community’s matrimonial project, which will be launched shortly. He also gave updates about the memberships drive in all states of UAE. Kamran Ghani, Vice-Chairman of WMO Global Youth Wing, Middle East chapter shared youth wing progress and announced upcoming project of job placement.

The WMO Middle East is a registered body with the International Humanitarian City Dubai. It has been involved in various community development activities across the globe, including assisting in the field of education, healthcare and refugee aid programmes.
