ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday admitted five preliminary questions of law regarding revising of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's murder case and fixed May 2 for initiation of its advisory jurisdiction proceedings over the issue.

A three-Judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on a presidential reference sent to the apex court under Article 186, in its order said that a larger bench would be constituted.

The court also summoned the relevant record from the Lahore High Court (LHC) and nominated 10 amicus curiae besides, directing Attorney General for Pakistan and five advocate generals to assist the court on the issue.

Amicus curie appointed to help the court in the hearing of the reference included Latif Afridi, Khalid Anwer, Aitzaz Ahsan, Justice (retd) Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim , Ali Ahmed Kurd, Makhdom Ali Khan, Tariq Mehmood, S M Zafar, Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, Barrister Zahoor ul Haq.

Earlier, former law minister Babar Awan submitted five points of law related to Bhutto case reopening in the Supreme Court which are:

1. Wasn't Bhutto's trial violation of basic human rights?
2. Is it Islamic to hang on evidence of approver?
3. How can trial be fair if judicial prejudice is proved?
4. Was Bhutto's punishment consistent with trial, circumstances?
5. Wasn't Bhutto's trial in contradiction of basic rights?
