Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Islamabad on Saturday on a two-day official visit.
The Qatari head of state was accorded a red carpet reception with Prime Minister Imran Khan personally receiving him at the Nur Khan airbase.
The distinguished guest was also given a 21-gun salute upon his arrival.
Hamad Al Thani, who is visiting the country on the invitation of PM Imran, is accompanied with a high-level delegation comprising key officials and ministers.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi received his Qatari counterpart in the federal capital.
During his stay in Islamabad, the emir will hold talks with the premier and President Arif Alvi to “discuss ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership”.
Several MOUs, agreements “for enhanced bilateral cooperation in different areas” are expected to be signed between Islamabad and Doha.
In a statement earlier this week, PM Imran stated that the Qatari emir will announce an investment of $22 billion for Pakistan spanning different sectors.
“This comes as a second major investment in the country after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had announced to invest $21 billion in Pakistan in three phases under its investment plan,” the Instagram post read.
