Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan witnessed on Thursday the firepower display of army’s air defence system, including the long-range weapon LY-80.
“Firing by all air defence weapon systems was the culminating event of two-week long exercise ‘Al Bayza-2019” in Karachi, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement on Thursday. “Hallmark of the event was first ever fire by recently inducted Long Range Air Defence Weapon System LY80.”
The statement added that the “induction of LY-80 has realised the concept of a comprehensive, layered and integrated air defence capability with enhanced lethality.”
The army chief, according to the ISPR, said LY-80 had greatly enhanced air defence capability of Army Air Defence while strengthening it at the national level along with PAP, the overall custodian of the defence of the Pakistani air space.”
