Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi inaugurated Wednesday state-of-the art expansion and up-gradation of the Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) that would provide quality air travelling facilities to more than 3.5 million passengers per year.

Director Planning and Development CAA, Nadir Shafi appraised the premier about salient features of the project and facilities provided to the passengers at the airport.

He said expansion and up-gradation of the BKIA, originally built in 1927, was a great demand of people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and fulfilled by the PML-N government.

He said Phase-I of BKIA was completed in a short period of two years. In addition to state of the art new terminal, passengers seats, immigration counters, boarding lodges were also increased to facilitate passengers, he added.
